Movie date part two or three

This post is all about what I wore on a movie date with my boyfriend Steve. To set the scene: we went to the Laurel Park Phoenix theater to see 'Deepwater Horizon'. A fairly nice little theater, more like watching a movie in your friend's mom and dad's house's den; the movie? Well, it was so bad we left less than half way through. First I sent Steve on a mission to find for me something to wet my whistle on other than Coke or Pepsi, second, I went on a little mission of my own, this time to find out what was taking Steve so long. Needless to say, neither of us made it back for the film's, I'm sure, anti-climatic (no pun there), ending. No loss. We were expecting a bad movie, just not that bad, anyway, going to a movie on a date is never about how good the movie is going to be, right?
Not too long a digression there. So. Back to fashion. What was I going to wear? Well, started off with these:
Got another pair just like them except no back lacing.
Then, I wound up looking like this:
That's outside the theater. It's tough to find since it's inside this largish mall and can easily be mistaken for a store.
Here's two more shots, one from the rear, the other, a little to the sidish:

The bag, hat, jacket, and gloves go with the boots pretty darn good; not that great riding on the back of a motorcycle. So, what's underneath? Um, well...I think I wore a similar outfit in my last post about going on a movie date, and I think I mentioned something about a Scotsman and his kilt, and a joke. So...what was said there, applies here as well.
Guess that's it for today. Check back again for more interesting stuff. Probably going to do a holiday/gift type of thing, not sure what the subject will be about.
Catchya later.
Ciao.

Moto Fashion Live

Note: I had promised to put a post about my moto fashion up some time ago, and here it is, finally. Sorry for the delay.

""You're not going to get me on that thing!" I screamed while banging my fists on my boyfriend Steve's chest. My new boyfriend Steve had invited me on a date; transportation was to be via his motorcycle, however, now I had chickened out. The invitation had sounded romantic and enticing at first, plus it would give me a chance to try out my extensive collection of moto garments for real. Now, looking at Steve's squat, low slung Ducati, not so much. " Come on, Naomi" Steve wheedled, "We'll take it slow at first..." "I bet you say that to all the girls" I responded with a playful elbow to his ribs.

Moto fashion. It's a big fashion trend, at least as far as PU/Fake leather jackets and pants go. I've already written a couple posts about it, though not included my daily lifestyle take on it, or at least, not very much. Basically, summing up, moto fashion can be divided into a number of different groups. The first group is clothing designed for and intended to be worn by, people who ride motorcycles. The next two groups are based on the two families of motorcycles available: Harley Davidson/Triumph motorcycles, and BMW/Ducati/Japanese motorcycles. Because of the different types of motorcycles, two different styles of clothing have developed for each motorcycle group. The last moto style fashion group is clothing influenced by one or all of the above groups, but worn mostly for the fashionability of it.
When I received Steve's  invitation I wasn't sure what group he fell under, though I had an idea from his own clothing style. I played it safe and mixed things up a little.
First off, moto pants:

Bodycon to the max PU pants. These pants don't just hug the body, they're so tight they shape it a wee bit. Fortunately, the PU stretches more than real leather, so they aren't a pain in the toockus - literally - to wear.
Next up a pair of moto boots:
The platform and stiletto might not be the most practical, though the over the knee style might come in handy.
Finishing my outfit off, a PU bralette, gauntlet moto gloves, and a fake leather baker boy hat.
So. We took it slow at first, as Steve had suggested: a couple slow loops around the MSU dorm garage. Then, Steve wanted me to try his cycle solo, why, I don't know: I didn't have the attachment to my license to legally ride on my own, so what was I going to do? Steve explained that maybe I'd feel more comfortable. Fortunately, I did not ruin his expensive Italian bike:
Lessons over, we head out for our destination: Mexican Town in Detroit. Steve had already become acquainted with my fondness for Quesadillas, so, thoughtful him, he was looking out for me. What a sweetheart!
The first part of our 45 minute was fun, a little scary, since it took only 45 minutes (if you know what I mean), but fun: hugging Steve's muscular back, the wind, the noise, the not usual vibration; it was something new. About half way through the trip, it started to get old, as fast as Steve was driving. Riding perched on the rear fender, in these  ultra tight moto pants, well, pain in the toockus was all I could think of. Still, once we reached our destination, I had to compliment Steve on the exhilarating ride.

We had a lovely romantic evening, though the quesadillas weren't especially to my liking. No matter, it was being with my new friend that counted most. Plus, got some cool looking fashion shots in, too.
Steve had sensed my discomfort riding on his bike, and after dinner, he suggested a couple stops alternate to the long trip back to East Lansing. It was getting too complicated, plus, since my car was still at MSU, I'd have to take the bus back from Detroit, so I said I'd manage. Sweet Steve made a couple other suggestions, but, no problemo, was my response, and back on the back of his bike, back to MSU we went.
So. There you go. Moto fashion outside of the closet. I've got a few more moto fashion styles I've explored, so look for those in the recent future. Well, guess that's it for today. If you've got a cycle, or ride on a friend's, make sure to get a few rides in before the weather turns frigid.
Catchya later.

You watched my 'How to clean PU' video, and I bet you're thinking "What was that super cool outfit Naomi was wearing?"
Not that one, silly! This one, this one:
Don't fret, I'm going to get to the first one soon enough, keep your pants on. By the way: is your PU now un-pee eww?
Anyway, went on a sort of Black Special Ops date to see my fave actress in 'The Intern'. The movie? Eh, so, so. But about my outfit: surprisingly inexpensive: only 90 bucks for the whole shebang. Here, I'll let you have another shot at it:
Even though the pants are super tight, the PU stretches very nicely, thank you. Can't say much about the overall look; leaning towards boho some, a definite chicness to it. Pretty monochrome since it's all black. Heck, black goes with everything, as they say, so it should go with black, right? My hair looks really greasy on purpose: went way over board with the Old Spice hair goo, and you know, I was happy with the way it turned out. If this is your first time here, yep, I know Old Spice is marketed to men, and you know what? That's not going to stop me, besides, it's cheap as heck.
I've got a couple of these bolero/flamenco style boho hats, with different brim and crown sizes for different outfits. I guess you could say, it's all in the brim.
Along those lines, that's not the first time, or last time, at the rodeo with that jacket. It's really quite versatile: goes with that outfit, jeans - all kinds - bell bottoms, one exception: the more hippy the boho gets, not so much. It's a little too secret agent for a full on hippie get up. And my thoughts on bohemian? Well, I'm not that hip to the Western influence myself, tend to go more Woodstock. But, whatever floats your boat, right?
Well, I'm going to keep this post, short and sweet. Which, I can't say about the time it was I recapped my Polyvore sets; Lordy! I think I've got at least 800 sets or so here since the last one. So, I think I'll make the recap just an overview.
As always, check back again for more exciting stuff from the world of fashion.
Catchya later.
Ciao.
P.S. One last thing: if you want to skip my Polyvore stuff, just check my google+ posts; every time I put up non-Polyvore stuff, it's accompanied by a google+ post. Should give you any ideer of where to look.

So. You're having lunch with your BFF and...woops! Spill some coffee on your favorite PU pants. Or: maybe you're on a date, sitting in he movie theater waiting for he feature to start, hey, now's a good time for some new lipstick...you see something out of he corner of your eye: "Is that...?" woops! Turning, you get lipstick all over the collar of your PU jacket. No, it's not time to rush home and trash what might be your favorite PU. Sure, PU can be tough to clean; how the heck do you clean PU anyway? Well, this post will show you how. It's easier than you think;it just takes a little time. First off, remember that throwing your PU stuff in the washer and then he dryer is a no, no. Washing machines can kill PU and dryers with all that heat can be even worse.
The first thing to remember about PU is that it's a plastic, so, what do you use to clean plastic? Well, it's not any ordinary because PU is so flexible. Of course, polyester is plastic, and many garments are made of that, but PU is more sensitive to heat and wrinkling.
To get your fave PU clean what you'll need first is water. A soft cloth, something that won't scratch the PU and leave permanent marks. A largish wash basin. And some kind of soap. Practically any soap will work, but what I find best is dish washing soap. It gets out the stains and, since it's used for cleaning stuff you'll eat off of later, well, it should be safe for something close to your skin.
For general everyday old cleaning follow the steps in the photos below:

Simply work the clothes gently in a wash basin full of soapy water. After that, follow the same procedure in clean, clear water until the soap is rinsed out. Lastly, you're going to want to dry out the PU garment so it doesn't attract mold. Hang it up in an airy, warm place until dry.
For tougher stains, follow the procedures in the following vid:
Make sure to dry out your clothes as explained earlier. And that's about it for cleaning PU.

Location, location, location

Totally sorry that all you've been getting out of this blog is just Polyvore sets. Sure, they're great, hey, I've got almost 2000 of them on here, but I'm sure you want some live action fashion.
And that's what today's post is all about.
So, this guy asked me out to go see, 'Fate of the Furious', already seen it, but said yes to be with the guy. Sounds like the start of bad joke, huh? Nah, this is totally on the level.

Now, what to wear? Well, it was a date and it was this past May, so I needed something a little bit warm, and a little bit hot, and this is what I came up with:

Here I am in the Phoenix theater State-Wayne movie theater; the lobby looks adorable and I think my date found my outfit the same. Basically, a bodycon, black PU jacket, bucket fedora, thigh high platform boots, and a fake reptile purse. You know how I use the phrase wee bit, well, more than a wee bit? And it sounds a little Scottish? And, did you ever hear the joke about what's under a Scotsman's kilt? Well...I guess you'll have to check out my Tumblr blog to find out, but don't forget about the Scotsman and his kilt.
Here's another shot at the refreshment stand:

I went to the salon before the date for a new perm. Makeup is Covergirl, oriented in the earth tone palette.
And here's another pic inside the theater:

We didn't have any trouble finding seats - only a few other people besides us - which is a good thing since the theater has only 6 rows of seats. A small intimate theater, intimacy is good for a date; not so good for the full movie theater experience.
So, how was the movie, Naomi, you ask? Well, I'd already seen it before the date, and was a little preoccupied during the date, enough said.
As Porky Pig says, that's all folks. Check back again for more exciting posts.
Catchya later.

Groovy Boho

Haven't posted anything recently except Polyvore  stuff. Speaking of Polyvore, I've won a couple of contests; thanks to all who supported me. Unfortunately, for various reasons, I was unable to collect a prize. Nevertheless, thanks again to all who liked my styling creations.
So, here's an example of something I've been wearing.
It all started with a bet between my good friend Denise and I. To win the bet, I figured I needed a killer outfit, something very cool, no, groovy. Something "groovy boho." The first pic seesme strutting the whole outfit through the lobby of Michigan State University's Owen hall:
You'll probably note first the super shiny PU tribal pants. Now, "tribal" mostly refers to a type of pattern on boho pants, dresses, purses, what have you. It's also a type of pant, check out these stills from "Star Trek" (sorry, the best example from the '60's I could find.)

You'll notice the actress' costume has a distinct, American Indian influence: of course, most of the costumes in "Star Trek", or for that matter any TV show or movie, are inspired by or taken from the closet of various periods in the world's history. Tribal pants don't seem to have originated in American Indian culture, but somehow the moniker "tribal", stuck. For this episode of "Star Trek", wardrobe thought the tribal pant style would seem, well, tribal.
Next up, my purse:

Looking this purse over after I bought it, I bet the same thing that was coming to my mind then,is coming to your mind, now: Dabuwawa, fairy fashion, Japanese anime looks, or maybe something inspired by Marc Jacobs earlier stuff. You know, those are nice
but not exactly my cup of tea. Some how this purse popped into my mind when I was assembling my outfit: its glossy, bright red, fake patent leather shinyness, and giant PU flower embellishment was a perfect complement to the rest of my outfit. To go along with this bright, shiny red purse, I picked out a pair of equally red, shiny PU gloves, normally a part of the B&D crowd's wardrobe, the gloves work perfectly with the other garments.
Now I needed some knockout footwear, and I decided on these outstandingly groovy boots:
"Love Boots" from The Love Boot Company (get it? 'Love Boots', like "The Love Boat"? The '70's TV show?)
I actually received these expensive, PU, thigh high, tall platform, stiletto heel boots with ginourmous pull loops near the uppers' top lip, as a gift (that's another story in itself.) Also, dig the wonderful PU flower appliques. Couldn't fit them in full length (tribal pants too tight around the thighs), so I had to fold over the upper.
Next up my hat, you've undoubtably seen boho hats before, but how about a PU one with a metal heart band. Definitely cool.
Next up, my jacket:
I didn't buy my jacket from www.sofalee.com. How come? Because, well, it's about $2000, and check this out:

If you compare these photos carefully, you'll note identical fabrics in the PU, fake reptile purses, and sofalee.com's supposedly real leather jacket, besides, I'd seen similar jackets on Aliexpress, too. So. What happened was: I contacted one of these sellers, who put me in contact with a manufacturer, who referred me to a store in Goudzung province China, who sold me a similar jacket in gorgeous PU for about $25. Yay! A word about Aliexpress: I've mentioned it quite frequently, yet one should always adhere to the advice: when in Rome do as the Romans do, and in Aliexpress' case, caveat emptor. Check this out from an Aliexpress seller:
Never, ever buy from a seller who does not accept returns. I'm surprised this seller is still on Aliexpress as it goes against Aliexpress' general policy. Enough said.
So, looking at the outfit as a whole, I look a wee bit more, say, buxom, than usual. Not unlike this model:
Or maybe Kim Kardashian. Probably even Ms. Kardashian's staunchest fans are sick of her by now: example: you want to buy a new cell phone; "kim has the cutest IPhone pics of her new baby!"; want to find a local restaurant: "Kim ad Kanye out to lunch at McDonald's, try the new Kardashian quarter pounder!" hmphf.)
Something's missing here: oh, yeah, my blouse! You can barely see it poking through my jacket in the photo so far; so here's a better view:
Wound up at one of MSU's biology buildings for this shot - bet, you know. The blouse is a bell sleeve, very sheer, very décolletage crop top with no buttons, just a PU belt embellishment for a hem. With, I might add, a very nice peace sign belt buckle.
Here's another view from behind:
Wound up at a local watering hole and romper room, "The Tequila Cowboy". You'll note, the tribal pants aren't too tight, and you can see the big bells in this pic. Tequila Cowboy is obviously trying to make a buck off the whole U of M Ann Arbor/MSU rivalry thing, a smart business move since so many from U of M come to Spartan stadium for the games, and need a post play joint to wet their whistles.
Lastly: hair, makeup, and jewelry. Jewelry was simple: my usual Star of David and menorah necklaces and truly cool, brass peace sign hoops. Speaking of hoops, had on a cool ringed belt.
My hair? Well, that's a different kettle of fish. Wanted a strawberry blonde perm, but the hairdresser at the salon rendered it a sort of off orange. At first I  was going to be upset, then, I started liking it, so no complaints; just watch it in the future.
My makeup and nails are Covergirl: Lavalicious Lip gloss over Blast Flipstick lip color, didn't do the mascara - on falsies number; straight Mega Curl, Eye enhancers, Cheekers, about sums it up.
Well, that's all folks. More stuff coming soon, check back again.
Catchya later.
Ciao.

"Gosh! You're very tall!" the guy noted, lowering his camera. "It's the boots dude." I explained. The guys wanted a photo of me standing beside a stadium truck, just one of the exciting activities at this year's Detroit Grand Prix.

This year's Grand Prix was different from last year's. For one, I was working the Grand prix as a car/promo girl not a spectator. Another difference was my outfit. It wasn't intended to be a car girl uniform though that's what it ended up being. It was my to-work-outfit, that so impressed the boss he suggested I wear it full time. Great! By the end of the day the boots wound up almost killing me.

So, about the outfit: starting at the top: worn this hat before. Seemed a perfect choice, looks a bit like the paint schemes on some folks' fast cars. Next a PU jacket/skirt combo, certainly looks race worthy. Funny thing about it is that it reminds me of an outfit from a not very good online game I had been playing. Yes, I'll admit it, like most college students I've played my share of online games. This game, a little embarrassing, it's called Big Bang Empire, here's a screen shot:

The color scheme and pattern on the game's jumpsuit and the jacket/sirtsuit on me are startingly similar. Funny, the skirt/jacket
combo are (or were) distributed by Dabawaw, best known for a sort of fairy fashion / anime type style. The big joke, I suppose,
is the online games setting is well, different let's say. When I first saw the jumpsuit in game, I swore
I could have seen it before and had to double check my closet to make sure. A bit racy? Yes, but this is an auto race. To complete the outfit: thigh high platform boots. They match the hat pattern wise with a '70's feel to boot.
Well, here's the start of my day, greeting race fans at the track entrance:

Got another request from a fan for a photo shoot, you'll note no top -there's still a jacket, however - seemed a bit superfluous once the weather and job requirements had been taken into consideration. Apparently, the no bag rule wasn't in effect for the Grand Prix, that, though, is not the reason for a purse being absent from my assemblage. Purses and bags simply aren't part of the whole car girl image, so I left mine in my locker. Good thing I didn't leave it in my car, because then I'd have to contend with the whole chicken and the egg car key contradiction.
Last year's Grand prix I went with my ex Buddy and this year I bumped into him here again. I had that funny feeling he'd
be here...must be his voracious interest in anything automotive. Feelings weren't especially warm, though civil. Summing things up, here's a shot from the race track paddock of that stadium truck going through it's paces, plus, yours truly.

Normally the stadium trucks race on a dirt track, learned that cuddled up with Buddy watching some stadium truck races
on TV. For the Detroit Grand Prix, they had to set up ramps. Oops! Forgot the mirrored sunglasses, a definite part of the car girl's wardrobe. So that's it from another exciting Detroit Grand Prix. If you can make it to Detroit, it’s a can’t-miss stop. You can always watch the races from the streets if you don't want to splurge for a ticket. Check back here again for more about the exciting world of fashion. And, I've got another youtube video up. I'm not the star but if you have a taste for fake croc bags, you should watch.
Catchya later.
Ciao.

"If you give me $100, I'll show you my dorm room..." The Father's and his son's jaws dropped to the floor. Of course I'd show it to them for free. They smiled and we had a good laugh. One of the things I've been doing to earn extra bread, is to work out of the MSU Office of Admissions as a tour guide. Writing about my job gives me a chance to show off how a college junior usually dresses.

Here's one of my looks:

This photo is from last Fall. I'm not sure how I'd describe it, boho maybe? It's a bit of a mishmash: resort wear hat, Donna Karan neck scarf, cropped jacket, crop top, belt, striped skinny pants, and thigh high platform Casadei boots. I bought the boots from Aliexpress for, I think it was only $30, an outstanding deal given the price they go for usually. I love the jacket and top, and although the pants are great, I'm not sure what to wear them with. By the way, the building in the background is Beaumont tower, not an intrinsic part of the educational process, but it gives an old school feel to the tour.
For our next stop, I'm wearing something that makes up my usual school day attire:
A snuggly fleece lined, PU bomber jacket, t-shirt, platform clogs, and trumpet jeans, or extreme bell bottoms, or Kung Fu jeans, or Kung Fu restaurant jeans. The later two monikers I concocted because outside of Naomi's little world, the only people you'll see wearing them are actors in Kung Fu movies. So here's another peek at those clogs:
Yep, those are ginourmous heels, which you need with ginourmous bells on trumpet jeans. Once you get used to them they're just a teensy bit difficult to walk in, not too much. No problem for a pro tour guide like myself.

And speaking of professionalism, even some one like me can get lost on her own campus. Luckily, there's an app for that:

 Sorry no casetify for me.
One of MSU's attractions that draws the most interest is here, this place:
Spartan Stadium. It's one of the biggest sports stadiums in the world. Other than that, there's little for most academic candidates to have interest in; sure, I've toured some prospective athletes, yet for most students, Spartan Stadium is realm unto its own. It's not even located on campus. Yet everyone wants to give it a look see. Because of all of the War on Terror paranoia, I have some trouble getting my tourists inside. Though I have my ways: a killer demand from a woman who isn’t afraid to go against the grain can't be ignored. A quick annotation: in an earlier post I think I made a teensy booboo when I declared that Spartan Stadium is bigger than even Ford Stadium or Field where the Tigers play. Not sure if the Tigers play at Cormica Field - if that's what it's called (not sure about that either) - or Ford Field, or the Lions play at one of them or the other, sorry, after all this ain't no sports blog.

The look I'm sporting here, is something I call slob style: it's a little grungy, sort of boho, 100% casual. Again, like the previous photo, a fleece lined, PU bomber jacket - this one's slightly different , t-shirt, trumpet jeans - almost the same as the one's in the previous snapshot except for different detailing around the waist, and humungous platform sandals, check these babies out:

Oh, and the t-shirt I'm wearing? I did not pay $300 for it. It's my new boyfriend Steve's. He didn't buy it at a concert either mind you, that tour was a little before our time. He got it at a thrift shop for $2! I tell him, "Steve, go on Ebay and try to sell it, you could get $300." Naah, he'd rather wear it himself or see me wearing it, how sweet.
Well, that concludes Naomi's tour of MSU, hope you learned something, but now it's time for everyone to get off the bus. Feel free to check out some of my other posts too, on your way out.

Catchya later.

Ciao.
