Went to the Fillmore here in Detroit with my good friend Dani - Danielle - recently. I was hoping to get an interview and some photos with the famous rock stars performing for my school paper, The Statesman, but no such luck. Nevertheless, Dani and I had a good time, checkout this photo in the lobby:
If you've never been to the Fillmore and happen to find yourself in Detroit some time, you should check it out, even if you're not there for a show. Not sure about tours and such though a peek through the doors should satisfy your curiosity a bit.
So, fashionwise, I kept things casual: mermaid - trumpet jeans, a beautiful paisley blouse, Pu moto jacket, fringe PU purse, a big hat, and these shoes (which you can't see too well because of the jeans' extra sized bells):
They have a wonderful '70'sish style to them that goes perfectly with the rest of the outfit. Here's another shot of the whole outfit:
I'm standing in front
of a wall in the lobby that is covered with photos of some of the artists that have performed at the Fillmore in the past.

Well, guess that's it for now. Check back again for more exciting adventures in the world of fashion. Hope you had a good Summer and your Fall is      wonderful too.
Catchya later.
Ciao.

I'm one of the lucky ones. Many students never get the full Spring Break experience. You know what I'm talking about: going to Florida, hanging out on the beach, partying, getting drunk - did I write that? It's just so darn expensive I never got the chance. That is until this year. What made this year different was that I got a sort of Spring Break scholarship. Here, let me explain: it all started last year. You probably read my post from December and know what's coming. I came across an ad in the school paper, The Statesman, and a fraternity wanted MSU girls to model for their alumni calendar. I tried out, was one of the lucky girls picked, and as a part of the payment, I received $50 plus - and this is a big plus - a free, all expenses paid Spring Break in Florida, and, an entry ticket to a wet t-shirt contest sponsored by the fraternity, the fraternity's national pledges, and other fraternities and organizations.
The whole thing is very complicated, so try to stay focused: for the first stage of the contest, I competed against other girls sponsored by the same fraternity as mine, but from different schools:

I won that competition so it was on to the next stage. But not so fast, because this stage of the competition was not without controversy. Some of the girls were upset about the fact that I was wearing PU pants not a swim suit bottom, so I had to point out that a bikini top isn't a t shirt. The broohahah got to the point that we could have settled it by mud wrestling. The guys just watched and cried out "Cat fight! Cat fight!" Anyway, for the competition I wore the [prerequisite t shirt - an MSU Spartan shirt, naturally - PU pants, and thigh high, rubber, stiletto heel, boots. Here's my boots in the nice hotel room I was put up in:

About those controversial PU pants: they were supposed to be super low waist, yet they seemed a little high. The front to back zip helps a bit especially for competitions like wet t shirt contests: the zip halfway down the front and they do look lower.
The upshot of the whole thing was I made it to the finals where I'd be representing the fraternity and competing against other girls who had won their fraternities' semis.
In between competitions, the guys took me out on the town for a victory celebration. Thanks guys! But I felt a bit like their prize race horse. For that sojourn I wore these shoes:

Trumpet-Kung-Fu-embroidered jeans, an off the shoulder top, sunglasses, ultrasuede hat, and a PU, fringed purse. A bit boho.

For the finals, I really needed a good game face, um, outfit. I decided on these shoes:

Not a big decision because I brought only four pairs of shoes with me. The rest of the outfit looked like this:

Almost got disqualified. For the shorts? Nope. It's not like I'm the girl who wears cutoffs from April through September. Besides, everyone loved, loved, loved those. this time the tables turned and I was on the receiving end for complaints about the right kind of shirt. Eventually, the complaints were resolved, and in spite of shaking my stuff like there was no tomorrow, I placed third. the payday for this trip was $100 for the semis, and I missed out on the grand prize, but got the $300 for placing show. I have got to say that I think some of the girls were pros and even though I'm a bit of a pro, it seemed a wee bit unfair. All in all, I've got to warn you that if you're thinking of entering one of these con test for the bread you might want to be a local: the cost of travel, accommodations, food, isn't defrayed at all even if you win. I might do it again even without sponsorship, since it's really the fun of it and another item for my growing resume.
Now, after the end of the comp, the guys weren't sore at all and off we went for another trip. I got some complaints on this trip, however. Seems, the proprietor of a local eatery wasn't too happy with - wait for it - the top? Nope! This time it was the short shorts! "What's the big deal?" I screeched. "They're just like bikini bottoms except they're denim!" I protested, pointing to some of the patrons in one pieces and bikinis. he was having none of it. disappointed, prize race horse, again, the guys took me to a beach side food truck, and I think they were enjoying the, stimulation, yeah, that's it, I was giving the guy in the truck.

After having something pleasant to wet the whistle with, that was about it, and the next day I'm back in dirty, old Detroit and then back in East Lansing for school.
So, here's hoping your Spring Break was super fun too. Sorry this post is a bit of a delayed reaction, I guess I could chalk it up to how difficult Blogger is to work with, I suppose, though there were other obstacles as well. Check back here again for more exciting fashion. If you get a chance to go on Polyvore, you could always like asset or two of mine. I'd be much obliged.
Catchya later,
Ciao.

"If you give me $100, I'll show you my dorm room..." The Father's and his son's jaws dropped to the floor. Of course I'd show it to them for free. They smiled and we had a good laugh. One of the things I've been doing to earn extra bread, is to work out of the MSU Office of Admissions as a tour guide. Writing about my job gives me a chance to show off how a college junior usually dresses.

Here's one of my looks:

This photo is from last Fall. I'm not sure how I'd describe it, boho maybe? It's a bit of a mishmash: resort wear hat, Donna Karan neck scarf, cropped jacket, crop top, belt, striped skinny pants, and thigh high platform Casadei boots. I bought the boots from Aliexpress for, I think it was only $30, an outstanding deal given the price they go for usually. I love the jacket and top, and although the pants are great, I'm not sure what to wear them with. By the way, the building in the background is Beaumont tower, not an intrinsic part of the educational process, but it gives an old school feel to the tour.
For our next stop, I'm wearing something that makes up my usual school day attire:
A snuggly fleece lined, PU bomber jacket, t-shirt, platform clogs, and trumpet jeans, or extreme bell bottoms, or Kung Fu jeans, or Kung Fu restaurant jeans. The later two monikers I concocted because outside of Naomi's little world, the only people you'll see wearing them are actors in Kung Fu movies. So here's another peek at those clogs:
Yep, those are ginourmous heels, which you need with ginourmous bells on trumpet jeans. Once you get used to them they're just a teensy bit difficult to walk in, not too much. No problem for a pro tour guide like myself.

And speaking of professionalism, even some one like me can get lost on her own campus. Luckily, there's an app for that:

 Sorry no casetify for me.
One of MSU's attractions that draws the most interest is here, this place:
Spartan Stadium. It's one of the biggest sports stadiums in the world. Other than that, there's little for most academic candidates to have interest in; sure, I've toured some prospective athletes, yet for most students, Spartan Stadium is realm unto its own. It's not even located on campus. Yet everyone wants to give it a look see. Because of all of the War on Terror paranoia, I have some trouble getting my tourists inside. Though I have my ways: a killer demand from a woman who isn’t afraid to go against the grain can't be ignored. A quick annotation: in an earlier post I think I made a teensy booboo when I declared that Spartan Stadium is bigger than even Ford Stadium or Field where the Tigers play. Not sure if the Tigers play at Cormica Field - if that's what it's called (not sure about that either) - or Ford Field, or the Lions play at one of them or the other, sorry, after all this ain't no sports blog.

The look I'm sporting here, is something I call slob style: it's a little grungy, sort of boho, 100% casual. Again, like the previous photo, a fleece lined, PU bomber jacket - this one's slightly different , t-shirt, trumpet jeans - almost the same as the one's in the previous snapshot except for different detailing around the waist, and humungous platform sandals, check these babies out:

Oh, and the t-shirt I'm wearing? I did not pay $300 for it. It's my new boyfriend Steve's. He didn't buy it at a concert either mind you, that tour was a little before our time. He got it at a thrift shop for $2! I tell him, "Steve, go on Ebay and try to sell it, you could get $300." Naah, he'd rather wear it himself or see me wearing it, how sweet.
Well, that concludes Naomi's tour of MSU, hope you learned something, but now it's time for everyone to get off the bus. Feel free to check out some of my other posts too, on your way out.

Catchya later.

Ciao.

Woops! Sorry I missed the last two days of Chanukah, usually they are the best. I had finals to study for and family to be with. Yep, Chanukah ended Monday, but since I have a back log of stuff to tell you about, it looks like on Naomi's Fashionable World that Chanukah will go on a longer than expected. I'm sure the rabbinical council won't mind.
What happened this last Saturday was, I went to temple with my little brother and my mom, and when I got home I helped mom with some of our festivities, lighting the menorah and such. Here's what I wore:
I already had the platform sandals, the skirt and blouse were Chanukah gifts, the skirt from my mom, the blouse from my little brother. He must have spent all of his gelt from last year on me this Chanukah:
Naah, he's too old for gelt, though both of us are still getting the chocolate gelt from mom. Later, I went outside to hang out with some of my friends in the neighborhood. You see the driedel in the photo? We didn't play spin the driedel too much...just kidding!
So, I hope your Chanukah was one of the best ever. If it wasn't, well, there's always next year.
I've got one more final then the Fall semester has finally ended.
Haven't been on Polyvore lately though you're always welcome to like my sets, thank you!
Catchya later.
Ciao.
