Last Friday the advertising company where I have a summer job was closed to celebrate the 4th. As you all know, the fourth was on Saturday and the office is normally closed on a Saturday so they celebrated the fourth a day early. Since I had the day off, I asked my boyfriend to help me out with a fashion shoot. What to wear? Well as part of my summer boho campaign I picked the outfit in my the Polyvore set on this post and the previous post. There are very slight differences between the sets and I thought this one would be better. I could see this look being suitable for riding around on my boyfriend's hot rod, if and when he gets it finished. Quite in tune with the motor city though a little off center from what you'd expect in boho. There are plenty of abandoned buildings here in Detroit, as you probably know because that's all that's featured in the media lately, and we searched for an abandoned garage or filling station or something car related. For our first stop we had to settle on an abandoned school:
Yep, I did not wear a top with those Nastygirl.com overalls. It just didn't seem right. Nastygirl.com is turning into my go to place for fashion, at least for the summer. I love this kooky hat and I finally figured out how to wear it: with a perm! I'm having trouble figuring out what to do with the overalls though I think I'll have to include these gorgeous Gianvito Rossi over the knee boots. GR has taken this gorgeous style and rendered it in exceptional quality and I'm lucky to have been able to get them at such a good price. For my next overall outfit I really think I'm going to include a top, and think you can see why after reading the rest of this post.
Our next stop was this abandoned police station:
Exploring these abandoned buildings has become very fascinating for many, mostly out of towners. Every city has some abandoned buildings I would imagine just Detroit has gotten more attention for its than other cities. Of course we don't own the property, but no one seemed to mind if we made a quick stop.
After our little adventure our next stop was my boyfriend's house for more shooting. Buddy's dad was home watching the Tigers game. He's nice, but he gives me the creeps a little bit.
So we're hanging out with Buddy's dad watching the game, having a few beers, I'm close to 21 so it couldn't hurt, and dad asks Buddy to make a beer run. I was going to ask Buddy if I could go too but I just froze. I don't know what happened. And then I was stuck with Buddy's dad. Alone. Can you say awkward? We got to talking and I felt I owed it to Buddy's dad at least to explain my outfit, seeing as I'm probably going to be his future daughter in law. I told him about my interest in fashion and how I have a fashion blog, and eventually I recruited him to help me out with it:
In the end, Buddy's dad and I reached a new understanding, and it just goes to show fashion can get you anywhere, even if you're a little bit underdressed. Buddy eventually made it back, though during the drive back to our loft he was upset, I think, because he had so much trouble finding a place to get beer.
Hope you enjoyed, and check back later for more exciting stuff.
Vote for me on Polyvore if you get the chance.
Ciao
