Israeli Summer look.

Israeli Summer look.

Keepsake the Label black pants, $62 / Alice + Olivia white pants / Platform boots / Madewell leather handbag / Bling Jewelry pandora jewelry / John Lewis cuff bracelet, $23 / Itkasya summer scarve / Red nail polish / Michigan State Spartans ProToast MVP 2-Slice Toaster (Msu Team) / Bling Jewelry pendant / Yochi earrings / Go Jump in the Lake wall art / Wall art / B Ella small appliance

It's been years since the last time I visited Israel. My family and I went on vacation to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and all throughout Israel years ago. What I remember most from our vacation is the beautiful Israeli women and how they dressed. I vowed someday I would look like them.
You must have guessed by now that I am Jewish. Well, mostly Jewish, though being just part Jewish entitles me to Israeli citizenship if I am not mistaken, immigration law is not my forte. I don't know if I will ever live in Israel on a permanent basis but I will surely try to return for another vacation.
So far the only thing that reflects my Jewish heritage is that I wear a Star of David necklace and sometimes a menorah necklace, which is very common among Jews, whether they are Conservative, Orthodox, Hasidic, or like me, not a regular practitioner. The look I developed in the Polyvore set above was, of course, inspired by my trip to Israel. It's very warm there and light summer clothes are very comfortable both at night and during the day. Unfortunately, I had to redo the whole set again, just couldn't find it among my other sets. There must be some real meshuganas at Polyvore because not only was that set missing but I had to post all of the sets I made since my Catwoman set manually. Usually they are posted to my blogs automatically. I've made quite a few sets and I'm a little concerned maybe others are missing.
Well, just a word to the wise you might have different experiences.
This past summer I brought my Polyvore set to life. Buddy and I went to a street fair one weekend, and I decided to give my outfit a test:
The head scarf is hand made in Israel, and although it is beautiful, its beauty did not ease putting it on. I must have spent an hour trying to figure out how to simultaneously get my hair into the scarf and the scarf tied at the same time. The top is from Nastygal, the pants perfect and very inexpensive, my boots? I don't think they have these in Israel but I bought my pair on Aliexpress. I love the look but these huge heels are killer. So why would I think I look like I just stepped off the monorail and onto Herzliya beach? Was it just the head scarf? Nope, really the whole look, right down to the jewelry is not a direct copy but wouldn't be at all out of place anywhere in Israel. I don't know about Old Spice, though. I like it.
After some time at the street fair, which, in Israel, incidentally, are not special events but more of a way of life, Buddy treated me to a wonderful dinner at a terrific restaurant in Berkley. I think it's called Wineeasta or Vine Set or something, must be something else because neither of those names make any sense:

The restaurant is in a renovated garage that had been abandoned long ago. The new owners did a fantastic job redecorating and the food was great, which I expected from a burger three times the price of McDonald's, much better flavor too. It's just another sign of urban renewal here in Detroit. Maybe not that many people can afford to eat out at a restaurant like the one I described, and there weren't that many people there, but it's a start.
I was very grateful to Buddy for splurging so generously, and after dinner we went back to our loft, the rest is a secret. SHHH! Don't tell anyone.
Well, that's it for this post. Check back again because something very special is coming up and I'm sure you won't want to miss it.
Don't forget to like my contest sets on Polyvore, Thanks!!!!
Catchya later.
Ciao.

What to do on a Wednesday night in East Lansing? That was the question Buddy and I were asking ourselves last Wednesday. Not exactly, since this Wednesday Buddy and I were prepared. We had bought tickets to see The Stone Temple Pilots and US Elevators at the Fillmore in Detroit. It was the US Elevators that Buddy and I wanted to see mostly, though I still think The Stone Temple Pilots are a great band.
Now, Detroit is less than an hour away from East Lansing, so no problem there. If you ever visit Detroit, you should at least visit the Fillmore if not to see a concert but to check this gorgeous place out. Look at the next photo:
This place is gorgeous! I'm not sure of it's history, but on the Fillmore website they write that they hold other events here besides concerts, perhaps a wedding, hint, hint, Buddy?
The next question, almost important as what to do, was what to wear? Well, from the top down to my knees I'm all Nastygal, the online clothing store, I'm a nice girl, really. The big differences between my Polyvore set and what I actually wore is that this was an indoor concert and I brought a different bag and wore different boots. Dad came through for me again with this pair of utterly beautiful YS knee high platform boots with impressive wooden heels. Maybe too high even for a concert even indoors, and I ended up sitting for most of the concert.
Other than that, my makeup was mostly on spot with the Polyvore set, and I did not bring the Quesadilla machine, at times I wish I had because I started getting a little hungry. Which brings me to the next photo:
After a great show by US Elevators and then The Stone Temple pilots, I decided to go looking for something to wet my whistle and maybe meet some of the guys from one of the bands or better yet all of them. Yep, I was trying to be a groupie, but I wasn't alone, Buddy was with me, though not for long, because somehow we became separated and I found myself in one of the Fillmore's bars without Buddy. That's where I am in the second photo which was perfect except for the absence of Buddy. Now, the Fillmore has two very nice bars and I was having trouble finding the rock stars I was looking for, though I did find a refreshing wine spritzer. While I was there, waiting for something, Buddy or for rock stars, I overheard a group of girls talking who seemed to have the same goal I had, Buddy excepted, sorry Buddy you're all mine. I struck up a conversation with them, and the girl who was engrossed in Twitter suddenly told us that The Stone Temple Pilots were staying at the MGMGrande in Detroit for the night before heading to their next tour date the following day. In between their hysterical screams of joy, I asked them if I could go with them and I was relieved and thankful that they said yes. I had done some research prior to the concert about how to meet rock stars, and so far I wasn't following the rules at all. Oh why not, I told myself, they are rock stars after all.
When we got the Grande, which let me say is the hotel you should stay in when you visit Detroit whether you're a rock star or not, our little pack of groupies headed straight for the front desk. Suddenly I realized this was a bad idea, but before I could say "Stop!" they were already asking the clerk guy about the whereabouts of our rock star quarry. When the clerk, of course, denied any knowledge, I quickly interjected that we were just curious and that we were waiting for someone else. Now what? Well, we wandered around winding up in the Grande's bar which seemed like a good place to look:
And it's good looking too! Suddenly, one of us, I'm not sure who, started screaming again, a member of the band had been spotted! I don't know what he was thinking, maybe that he had seen a ghost, and he immediately started running away, all of us following and screaming like we had seen a ghost too. Which we had, because he lost us somehow, must be these heels us groupies like to wear. As we watched him turn the corner, none of us could help but laugh boisterously and it was difficult to stop.

Now what? They all looked at me, maybe because I seemed to be older and a college girl, so I'm like "What?" Reluctantly, we headed back to the bar, not sure what to do. What happened next seems a little hazy now, but we spotted another band member and this time neither him nor us became crazily excited. What our goal to accomplish was, I'm not sure at this point and a strange, dream like series of events followed. I found myself, along with the other girls, in one of the band member's hotel room with the rest of the band. While the other girls were running around and screaming hysterically, asking for autographs or for selfies, dancing to the music in the background, or asking inappropriate questions like "Can I have your underwear?" I stood there, watching and wondering what comes next.
What did happen, caught me completely by surprise. I heard a voice telling me he liked my boots. I turned, and it was one of The Stone Temple Pilots. Because the music was so loud, I thought at first that he said "boobs" and I was about to say "OK, hold on there tiger..." when I realized he was talking about my YS's. I don't know if it was what the other girls were doing or a rock star was talking to me, I suddenly felt very nervous. I meekly responded "Thank you" while my boots wobbled, and not just from the heels being almost 7 inches tall. Then he told me I smelled nice and asked me about the fragrance I was wearing. I told him it was Old Spice, and he said "You're kidding?" And I said no I wear it all the time, and he said "Hey, you're a cool chick" then I noticed a noise coming out of my bag. It was my cell phone! Buddy had been calling for the last hour or two and I hadn't even noticed it! After I slapped my forehead, thinking how neglectful I had been, I told my new friend "Oh that's my boyfriend!" he said simply "Alright, I'll get back to you later" and walked away. While I talked to Buddy and watched as the band appeared to go into a sort of huddle, I realized that when Buddy showed up I would be even more of a fifth wheel than I already was.
As I left, I tried to say goodbye but I don't think anyone noticed. Maybe someone said "Nice meeting you," the music was loud enough that maybe I didn't notice this time.
In the car with Buddy, during the drive back to East Lansing, I thought to myself "I was just blown off by a rock band!" Nah, it isn't everyday you meet someone that famous and I felt I should be grateful for the experience. I can't chalk the whole experience up to the way I was dressed, or the Old Spice I wear, though it must have helped.
So that's all for now. Check back again for more exciting adventures in fashion, and if you're on Polyvore don't forget to vote for my contest sets. Please! I need your help!
Catchya later.

Daytime outfit

Daytime outfit

Crop top / Frame Denim jeans / Vetements cowgirl boots, $1,435 / Metal purse / Worthington bangle bracelet / John Lewis cuff bracelet, $23 / San Diego Hat Co bucket hat, $68 / Bling Jewelry pendant / Yochi earrings / Go Jump in the Lake wall art / Wall art / B Ella small appliance

It was a lazy, warm Saturday afternoon, and I was sitting on our loft's porch blogging and drinking a delicious cup of  Comestible Master Company The Secret Coffee. Expensive, and I was treating myself. Minutes later, half my cup of coffee was down the drain.
Let me back track a month or two. Yes, all this happened about a month ago. I didn't post about it because I didn't have the photos till now, yep there are photos!
The reason my coffee wound up in the drain is that I spied my neighbor, who is a little bit of a creep, waiting for the down elevator in the building across the street. So why would I be in a hurry to meet this guy? (Don't get jealous Buddy - you know who I'm talking about.) Just because...and because being a communications major I am very friendly. Besides you've probably heard how the population in Detroit has declined to the extent that, on our block, it is practically him and me.
I grabbed my boots, pulled them on, rushed into the loft, grabbed me hat, dumped my coffee, grabbed Bertram - Bertram you say? Is Bertram your new boyfriend Naomi? No, Bertram is a puppy, more like a dog, we are taking care of for a neighbor. WE is an exaggeration. Buddy doesn't like Bertram. Buddy hates Bertram. Buddy is petrified of Bertram. I say to Buddy: how can you be scared of Bertram, look at this face: isn't this the sweetest, most adorable face? aren't you the sweetest Bertram? Aren't you? Yes you are! You're the cutest puppy...yes, you are!
I run to the street and Bertram loves to run, hard to keep up with him in these Jeffrey Campbell over the knee cowboy boots with 4 inch heels, which, I got on sale for less than $100 - lovely brown, bronze color - which, again, are still available at many stores on sale, if you want a pair, look around! I'm sure you can get them for dirt cheap!
Now I'm walking Bertram in the middle of the street, sounds dangerous? Declining population ring a bell? Just being a good neighbor, keeping the dog poop off the sidewalk, and I'm thinking I don't want to go up to this guy anymore. I'm not scared mind you, let's just say the special moment seemed to have passed. I posted before that our neighborhood isn't the safest, so a dog is a good companion for a woman walking alone. Bertram, though, is not an attack dog - he's just the sweetest thing! He wouldn't hurt a fly! Would you Bertram? Of course not, you're too sweet! So I'm walking Bertram, playing it cool, and the creepy guy comes up to me. You guessed it, Bertram jumps on him and starts licking him. The creepy guy isn't a creep at all! He has a way with this dog! And, compliments my style! They say the way to a woman's heart is through her dog and complimenting her sense of style. They're right! This guy is a real charmer. We're talking, he has his camera with him, as usual, he shows me this nice photo he took of me:
We're talking, either he says it, or I do, one way or the other, we're back at my loft. Standing on the porch. Drinking coffee, and having, well, just a nice conversation:
If you're observant, you noticed some differences between my Polyvore set. That's because I made the Polyvore set after these photos and I decided to jazz it up a bit. Didn't have my bag, jewelry, less makeup, Quesadilla machine on the kitchen counter, did have Old Spice on, comes in handy running in this warm weather, I luv Old Spice, weird huh? Also not the Vetements boots, which I don't own, yet. When the price drops below $100, those babies are mine! Couldn't add the Jeffrey Campbell boots because the Polyvore clipper isn't working for me, I've been able to clip only two items so far.
Luv these One Teaspoon jeans, the fit is great, luv the style, perfect.
Hope you liked this post, crossing my fingers it goes through to my Google + account.
I know I've asked you before to vote for my Polyvore contest sets and I realize that because Polyvore is such a vast jungle of beautiful stuff that you might have trouble finding me, which I am very sorry about, I'm going to make it easy for you and go through it step by step. First, go to my profile, just click on my icon in the upper right. Open about, and you'll find the link to my Polyvore account. Once there, just like one of my contest sets, that's how you vote!
You might want to check out my my new collection, "21st century film noire" Made a lot of them when I got up at 4 last morning, revved on coffee. Yep, I'm an early riser, just ask Buddy. Basically I tried to do some styling influenced by film noire from the '30's through late '40's. It's my latest schtick, watching too many old movies and taking the non prerequisite, but always necessary for a communications major, film studies course, leads to this affliction. Had some cool comments, might make a screenplay out of them, or better yet: an ad campaign! I should show it to my coworkers at work or one of my professors, the former's almost over and later's coming up.
You'll find a link to my Tumblr account in the about section as well. It's pretty much what you get here, but less talk. Some people like the tumblriness of tumblr so if that's your cup of tea, check it out!
More stuff on the way, so hang tight.
Catchya Later.
Ciao.
